Several years ago, I submitted a blood sample to a program called All of Us Research Program.

According to their website, “The goal is to help researchers understand more about why people get sick or stay healthy… People who join will give us information about their health, habits, and what it’s like where they live. By looking for patterns, researchers may learn more about what affects people’s health.”

Hurling a trio of friends around and around, spinning in circles with no end in sight, it appeared the scrambler carnival ride might have offered up more turbulence than the three young girls could handle Sunday night.

However, upon exiting the ride, Lillyan Reed, 13, Ireland Brown, 13, and Kennedi McDiarmid, 12, all of Ionia, shared nothing but giggles and excitement as they re-entered the line for the ride to enjoy it again.

Logan Campbell’s phone rang during the 13th round of the Major League Baseball Draft. 

Campbell answered and was told he was on the radar of the Minnesota Twins, who held the 28th pick in each of the Draft’s 20 rounds. 

Apex Clean Energy rep says proposed wind farm won’t be operational until at least 2024

A wind farm project proposed for Montcalm County wouldn’t be operational until at least 2024 in a best case scenario.

That’s according to Apex Clean Energy Public Engagement Manager Brian O’Shea who gave a presentation about Apex’s proposed Montcalm Wind project to the Belvidere Township Board on July 14. About 30 people were also in attendance in the audience.

Dillion Kohn of Sheridan picked up the B feature to advance to the main event, while heats fell to Kyle Borgman, Muskegon, Ries, and Riley Bowen of Sheridan.

Sheridan man dies 4 days after car crash in Greenville


A Sheridan man died four days after he was injured in a car crash in Greenville.

Robert Sly, 86, of Sheridan, as identified by his daughter to the Daily News, died July 14 at Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids.
