PUBLIC FORUM: Group not getting help from township officials

I am writing this letter as there are three of us in Maple Vally Township that have been asked to form a committee to get quotes for a township clean-up and township-wide trash service to help eliminate so many trucks driving every day for trash pickup on our roads and hopefully save the residents money.

Despite a late push by Fremont, Tri County softball escapes with 10-6 victory, stays perfect in conference

With the game firmly in hand heading to the final inning, Tri County softball was hoping for a quick 1-2-3 inning to get the victory of game one of Friday’s doubleheader against Fremont.

The Packers gave the Vikings everything they had in the seventh inning push with five hits in the final inning resulting in four runs but the Vikings were able to get the 10-6 victory to stay perfect in the CSAA-Gold conference after winning their first seven games.

Online UWMI Volunteer Center matches nonprofits with volunteers eager to help

Terri Legg, executive director of United Way-Montcalm/Ionia Counties, believes that the community her agency serves is among the most giving there are. When there is a need, people step up — when they know about the need, that is.

Thanks to a grant from the Greenville Area Community Foundation, and a longtime partnership between the two organizations, Legg announced the opening on April 2 of the online UWMI Volunteer Center, which will match organizational need with volunteer interest.

Located on the northeast edge of Kent County in Oakfield Township and only a six-mile trip northwest of Greenville, for more than 70 years the Presbyterian camp has transformed individuals by serving as a place to build relationships, preserve nature through education and conservation while providing a setting where campers can encounter God and experience spiritual growth.

After nearly four years of working in the role of an executive assistant, Heather Feazel is embracing her new position as the assistant city manager of the city of Greenville. 

Last week, Feazel, 42, was officially promoted from her previous position of executive assistant to the city manager to assistant city manager.
