After a second full day of emotional testimony, conflicting stories and a hostile witness, two young men are headed to trial on charges of murder.
Kevin Patrick Bartz, 23, of Cedar Springs and Nicholas Bauer, 18, of Stanton are charged with murder, assault with intent to commit murder and two counts each of felony firearms in the Jan. 13 shooting death of Destini Cunliffe, 18, of Greenville as well as the shooting of a 15-year-old Greenville female who sustained a leg injury. The incident occurred shortly before 2 a.m. at the intersection of Ann and Janet streets near the intersection of M-66 and Sidney Road.

Nearly everyone within the city of Belding can likely recall a memory of when they received a warm smile or an excited wave from James Miller.
Having passed away on April 3 after a courageous battle with T-cell lymphoma, Miller’s name will now be forever remembered following a brick dedication ceremony within the city.

Serving as a way to measure accountability, an annual accreditation review can leave school officials singing praises or preaching concerns, depending on the results of that review.
In receiving this year’s accreditation score for Greenville Public Schools (GPS), Superintendent Linda Van Houten is prepared to conduct a choir, with songs beaming of accolades and approval.
