Is a county drain necessary for a trio of lakes in Pine Township?

She lives near the cove of Rainbow Lake on Briggs Road which has been closed due to continued flooding since this past January.
Swain and her family have gone through flooding before, but nothing like this.
Reading off a list of items during a special board meeting, Greenville Public Schools Superintendent Linda Van Houten took no pleasure with each announced item — all cuts for the coming school year.
From reduced hours to layoffs, Van Houten and her staff have spent the past several weeks solidifying reductions and cuts to ensure it could present a balanced budget that can account for anticipated millions in reduced revenues in reaction to the coronavirus pandemic.
In presenting the proposed Montcalm Area Intermediate School District (MAISD) budget for the upcoming school year, there was one word Stephanie Weese used repetitively to describe her efforts — “assumptions.”
The MAISD associate superintendent for business proposed the budget during the June 25 meeting of the MAISD Board of Education held virtually via Zoom.
There may not be any fireworks in Portland this Fourth of July, but there’s plenty of colorful and sparkling commentary being traded amongst Ionia County and state of Michigan officials.
