Maddison Hubbert was hopeful when she submitted her application for Montcalm County 4-Her of the Year that 2020 could be her year.

Maddison was last year’s runner-up for 4-H’er of the Year, the highest honor Montcalm County 4-H can give. The bubbly 17-year-old, who will be a senior at Belding High School this fall, has been actively involved in 4-H for nine years.

While many unknowns still exist for the 2020-2021 school year, Carson City-Crystal Area Schools Superintendent John Sattler is hopeful things will return to some state of normal sooner rather than later.

On June 15, Sattler updated the CC-C Board of Education as to the status of the district’s upcoming budget and overall financial situation.

Troopers from the Michigan State Police Lakeview Post are investigating a two-vehicle traffic crash Sunday morning that resulted in serious injuries to a 24-year-old man from Sheridan.
