Area libraries begin the road back to ‘normal’

Area libraries are joining the ranks of businesses and other organizations that are starting to reopen, after Gov. Gretchen Whitmer lifted the stay-at-home order June 1.

Some libraries are opening their buildings to patrons, a few at a time, this week; but most are opening to staff only, with additional services like curbside pick-up of items, faxing and copying beginning next week.

Trio honored by Greenville Public Schools

While the coronavirus pandemic has put many things on hold this year, one thing it didn’t stop was the recognition of the most prestigious awards at Greenville Public Schools (GPS).

Normally on the final day of school, which was one week ago today, all staff at GPS would gather in the auditorium as one staff member and one community member or organization is recognized with the Elmer Russell School Bell Award.

Sitting down for a meal with her daughter and grandchildren, Deb Lamoreaux wasn’t about to take for granted the first opportunity in three months to enjoy a meal outside of her Belding home.

Seated in a booth at the Greenville Applebee’s, Deb cherished every little smile and laugh that came forward Monday — and there were plenty to go around.
