The 31st annual Montcalm Heritage Festival festival kicked off Thursday at Heritage Village with events continuing through 4:15 p.m. today with historical displays, reenactments and entertainment for all ages. Featuring more than 20 buildings staffed with volunteers, most in costumes, the festival is a step back in time.
A gas station that was auctioned off once before its owner went to prison is up for grabs again, along with other properties at the annual land auction for Ionia and Montcalm counties. The land auction will begin at noon Aug. 11 at the Sheridan Community Center. Registration will begin at 11:30 a.m. Each foreclosed property will start out at a minimum bid of that property’s current tax debt.
