Cory Smith

Cory is the Greenville beat reporter for The Daily News. He also covers the Carson City area and specializes in photography and multimedia. Cory is a hometown kid, having graduated from Greenville High School in 2004. He then went on to study journalism at Michigan State University where he also played trumpet and marched as a member of the Spartan Marching Band for four years.

After three seasons at the helm of the Greenville High School varsity football team, Tom Hallock has decided to step away from coaching the Yellow Jackets.  Hallock submitted his resignation as coach to Greenville Public Schools Athletic Director Brian Zdanowski on Jan. 5 after having gathered with many of his assistant coaches and high school juniors to inform them of his decision. The removal and replacement of trees in the city’s historic downtown district took another step closer to fruition during Monday’s Greenville Downtown Development Authority meeting.  The Authority voted unanimously, with Mayor Jeff Scoby and Linda Huckleberry absent, to approve an amended plan prepared by City Engineer Doug Hinken that was requested by the Michigan Department of Transportation, in order to allow the city to begin pursuing bids to remove 23 locust trees along either side of Lafayette Street (M-91) from Montcalm Street south to Benton Street. ... Former Klackle Orchards pavilion finds new home, City Church Greenville to move onto property

After 20 years of greeting visitors of the Danish Festival City as the first major landmark on their visit, the former Klackle Orchards Pavilion Events Center has found a new home.  Originally opened in 2004, the Pavilion Events Center — a 24,000 square foot fabric-steel structure standing 45 feet at its crest — has stood on the grounds of the former Klackle Orchards property on W.
