GREENVILLE — With an expansion of its offered services, University of Michigan Health-West has set itself up to better serve the health needs of those in the greater Greenville area.

On Wednesday, UM Health-West celebrated its expansion of services at its Greenville Health Center, located at 1915 W. Washington St. (M-57), with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

That recent expansion brings the element of family medicine in addition to the heart and vascular services that were already available.

The expansion is part of the organization’s ongoing commitment to providing comprehensive healthcare to Greenville and the Montcalm County community.

Dr. Alexander Witte has joined the UM Health-West team as a primary care physician. He holds a medical degree from Ross University School of Medicine and completed his family medicine residency at Western Michigan University where he also served as chief resident.

He is certified by the American Board of Family Physicians and American Board of Wound Management and is an active member of the American Academy of Family Physicians.

“We’re really excited to be here and happy to expand our offerings,” Witte said. “I think it’s really important to have that focus on health care, to expand these services to the benefit of the community.”

Witte has worked in multiple healthcare settings, including Corewell Health’s Wound and Hyperbaric Center and Select Specialty Hospital in Grand Rapids, as well as internal medicine and the wound clinic at Ascension Borgess Hospital in Kalamazoo.

UM Health-West’s Greenville Health Center is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Appointments can be scheduled by calling (616) 252-5940.

Greenville Area Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Paul Sischo applauded UM Health-West’s commitment to the Greenville community, choosing to reinvest in operations within the city.

“Anytime a business comes to town or chooses to expand, that’s really good for our community,” he said. “We love that they have chosen to make this investment, to expand their services. It’s going to help a lot of people in this community.”
