Stanton City Commission splits in vote to send tree ordinance to attorney for opinion

A tree ordinance continues to dominate Stanton City Commission meetings, with the first half hour of Tuesday’s meeting spent debating whether to include the item on the agenda, and the second half hour spent debating the need for the ordinance itself.

The city’s Planning Commission has been working on a tree ordinance for more than a year now, but some members of the City Commission remain hesitant about approving one, especially in light of the Planning Commission voting not to work on a tree ordinance at their meeting earlier this month.
