Sheridan fire department rebrands as fire authority, but Sidney Township not on board

The Sheridan Community Fire Department is dissolving as an association and rebranding as an authority with four municipalities on board, but it appears to be losing a fifth one along the way.

The Sheridan fire department, which was originally formed in 1961, is incorporating as an authority under Michigan’s Emergency Services Municipalities Public Act 57 of 1988. The village of Sheridan has signed on to the new authority, as have Bushnell, Evergreen and Fairplain townships.
