Montcalm County receives clean audit report 5th year in a row

The Montcalm County Board of Commissioners on Monday learned the county has received an “unmodified” audit rating for the fifth year in a row — the highest level of opinion an auditor can render on financial statements.

Joe Verlin of Grand Rapids-based auditing firm Gabridge & Co. presented the report on the county’s financial statements from 2020, giving the audit “a clean opinion.” He thanked Montcalm County Controller-Administrator Brenda Taeter and county staff for making the audit report “a smooth process.”
