Montabella football to forfeit week 5 game against Merrill, cites safety concerns over summer ‘drive-by’ incident which resulted in police intervention

The Merrill Vandals may be living up to their name as members of its football team were the alleged perpetrators in a summer incident targeting the Montabella football team.

In July, Montabella and Merrill were at a summer football camp at the Lake of Dreams campground in Merrill. It’s an annual occurrence for the two teams meet there ever since Montabella head coach Tim Webb arrived at the school district in 2020. Webb said he’s been coming to the campground long before that, dating back to his days as the head coach of Tawas Area High School.
