JUST IN: Belding man seriously injured in two-vehicle crashFree Access


EASTON TOWNSHIP — Troopers from the Michigan State Police Lakeview Post responded to a two-vehicle traffic crash resulting in serious injuries to a 23-year-old man from Belding on New Year’s Eve.

Troopers were dispatched to the intersection of Bellamy Road and Dildine Road in Ionia County’s Easton Township around 6:03 p.m. Friday.

Preliminary investigation revealed that a 1997 Chevrolet GMT-400 pickup truck driven by the 23-year-old man was driving northbound on Bellamy Road when he failed to stop at a stop sign at Dildine Road. The Chevrolet pickup truck struck a 2012 Dodge Ram pickup truck that was traveling westbound on Dildine Road.

The driver of the Dodge pickup truck, a 29-year-old man from Belding, suffered serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. A 26-year-old female passenger in the Dodge pickup truck suffered minor injuries and was treated by EMS on scene. The 23-year-old driver of the 1997 Chevrolet was ejected during the traffic crash and transported to a local hospital for treatment of serious injuries. The driver of the Chevrolet pickup truck was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.

Police continue to investigate this crash. Troopers were assisted by the Ionia County Sheriff’s Office, Ionia Department of Public Safety, Life Ambulance, and Ionia County Central Dispatch.
