Ionia man who rammed car is sentenced to time served, probation

A military veteran from Ionia convicted of assault with a dangerous weapon — that weapon being a vehicle — apologized at his sentencing for “wasting everyone’s time.”    

Brent David Parmer, 36, was sentenced by Ionia County Circuit Court Judge Ronald Schafer on Sept. 7 to five days in the Ionia County Jail, with credit for five days previously served. Parmer also was ordered to pay $1,708, including a $500 fine, and to serve 36 months on probation. He also must complete substance abuse and mental health assessments and the COG program, and must have no contact with the victim.
