GPS to delay in-person learning by two weeks, will begin school year online

On the heels of announcing a plan to return to in-person learning this fall, Greenville Public Schools (GPS) is pumping the brakes.

On Wednesday, GPS Superintendent Linda Van Houten sent an email to parents of students regarding the district’s draft version of its “Return to Learn” plan for the 2020-2021 school year. Van Houten outlined the basic details of the plan to be approved by the GPS Board of Education and shared with the public no later than Aug. 14, outlining how students will return to in-person learning for the school year beginning Aug. 19.
