Disaster recovery center open this week in SaranacFree Access

Ionia County residents have until April 8 to apply for assistance related to August 2023 storms


Ionia County residents with property damage from the Aug. 24-26, 2023, severe weather storm may now apply for disaster assistance from FEMA. 

This assistance comes after President Biden approved a major disaster declaration making federal funds available to individuals in Eaton, Ingham, Iona, Kent, Livingston, Macomb, Monroe, Oakland and Wayne counties. Applications can be completed online by going to disasterassistance.gov, downloading the FEMA app or calling the FEMA Helpline at 800-621-3362. The application deadline is April 8.  

To assist residents with the application process FEMA will be opening a Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) at the Boston Township Hall in Saranac. The Disaster Recovery Center will have representatives from FEMA and the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) to help individuals apply for federal disaster assistance. The recovery center will be open this week until Saturday, March 9. The hours of operation will be from 8 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
