The David A. Huhn VFW Post 12082 in Ionia was named after a U.S. Marine from Portland who was killed in action while on night patrol in an abandoned factory outside of Fallujah, Iraq, on Dec. 1, 2005. Huhn was only 24 years old.
“We named our post after (Lance Corporal) David Huhn because his family came from Portland and his mom (Diane Huhn) still lives in Portland,” said Frank Slagel, a member of Post 12082.
