‘Central Montcalm Fire Authority’: Sheridan, Stanton fire departments planning to merge, expand

A new fire authority is in the process of expanding, with the goal of bringing up to eight local municipalities on board. The Sheridan fire department in January 2023 dissolved as an association and reorganized as a fire authority under Michigan’s Emergency Services Municipalities Public Act 57. The village of Sheridan signed on to the new Authority, as did Bushnell, Evergreen and Fairplain township.
