Greenville schools superintendent announces retirement after 38 years in district

After 38 years of working in education at Greenville Public Schools — the last seven as its superintendent — Linda Van Houten, with mixed emotions and a heavy heart, will be stepping away at the end of the summer to embrace retirement.

During Monday’s regular monthly meeting of the GPS Board of Education, Board President Norice Rasmussen announced that Van Houten, 59, had submitted her letter of resignation, effective Aug. 31.
