BELVIDERE TOWNSHIP — Two dogs died in a Wednesday afternoon house fire near Townline Lake.

The Belvidere Township Fire Department was dispatched to 11655 Bluebird Drive off Schmeid Road at 3:47 p.m.

According to Belvidere Township Fire Chief Joshua Herzog, a single wide trailer residence was fully involved when firefighters arrived.

The Lakeview District Fire Department was automatically called for mutual aid, as well as the Home Township Fire Department to assist with manpower. The residence was a total loss. Firefighters cleared the scene around 7:30 p.m.

Herzog said the owner of the property wasn’t home, but two dogs died in the fire.

Christi Becker of Lakeview owns the property, according to Montcalm County property records.

The cause of the fire is unknown, but a state fire marshal will be visiting the property, according to Herzog.

There was nothing suspicious, but there were some concerns from the owner,” Herzog said.
