Wheatland Music Festival scheduled for Sept. 10-12
REMUS - " Happy Wheatland!" will be the call and response next weekend as the 37th annual Wheatland Music Festival gets underway.

The festival attracted about 11,000 people last year on the 160- acre former centennial farm two miles west and two miles south of the M-66 and M-20 intersection near Remus in southern Mecosta County, according to Publicity Chairwoman Kim Croy. About 12,000 people are expected this year.

Moreland's to host Battle of the Bands
STANTON - Moreland's Motocross will host the 27th annual Battle of the Bands this Labor Day weekend.

The four-day musical arts competition will award cash and prizes to the top 10 places with a grand prize of $1,000, including a free studio recording contract from Underground Recording Studio in Grand Rapids.

Andersen play follows Danish Festival theme
To find their true love and live happily ever is the dream of all fairy tale characters. Prince Peter must find a true princess to save the kingdom. But he is also hoping she will be someone he can love.

"The Princess and the Magic Pea," the Hans Christen Andersen Theater's Danish Festival production this year, portrays the classic fairy tale story at the Greenville Area Community Center. Showtimes are 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday and a matinee performance at 1:30 p.m. Sunday.
