GHS grad found dead on Mackinac Island

The Daily News

MACKINAC ISLAND - The body of a Greenville woman was discovered Thursday night on Mackinac Island.

Bridgette Collen Powers, 25, and a 27-year-old male, whose name has not yet been released, were both found dead at 9:30 p.m. in an apartment on the island, according to the Mackinac Island Police Department. Police say foul play is not suspected.

An autopsy is being performed to determine the cause of death.

Powers graduated from Greenville High School in 2002 and was working on the island in hotel management.

She attended Detroit Institute of Arts and was trained in glass blowing. She enjoyed snowboarding and working at Snowshoe Mountain, water sports, track and basketball.

A complete obituary can be found on Page 5B.

The Mackinac Island Police Department and the Michigan State Police St. Ignace Post are investigating.

The Detroit Regional Chamber's annual policy conference on Mackinac Island is under way and ends Saturday.

Please keep this in the public forum...I am concerned this is a repeat of my history - 20 years ago - Sept. 89 when my best friend and her boyfriend were found dead in their boarding house from a fire that was caused by negligence on both the owners of the building and by those in charge of enforcing building and fire codes...KEEP US UPDATED!
