Park supporters want to replace outdated playground equipment and pave a walking and running fitness path around the park. A total of $65,000 is needed to complete the project. Another $1,000-plus has been raised through other community fundraisers.
Taking part in the ages 25 to 29 category, T.J. Curry was the overall run winner with an 18:43 clocking. He was followed by Bill Fix in the 45- to 49-year-old group with a time of 19:22.1 and Rick Green in the ages 35 to 39 division in 19:48.
Kevin Holmes, Darshelle Stevens, Duane Koerner, Jill Evers-Bowers, Jessy Reed, Matt Britton and Bill Cleaver rounded out the top 10 finishers.
Andrew Snyder won the 10-and-younger male category with a time of 27:25 while Erin Snyder prevailed in the same age female category in 24:29.3.
Medals were awarded to the top three finishers in each age group. See www.tricountyschools.com on the World Wide Web for complete run and walk results.
Village Manager Mark Rambo placed 36th among the 91 runners with a 25:02.1 clocking.
"It was my first 5K run and I really had a great time," he said. "It was refreshing to see everyone pull together to put on such a great event."
Village Clerk Kim Alexander also walked in the event's walking portion with her family.
"I was very impressed to see how organized the event was," she said.
Another Sneaker Fun Run-Walk already is being planned for next autumn.
